The Movie Man

1914

The Movie Man contains one line of a song, "Mexico, my bright-eyed Mexico," which is parodied once as "my nice cool Mexico." No song with these words has been found. Lacking the authentic melody, the words may be fitted to the opening phrases of "Cielito Lindo."

Rogers — (does a few Spanish dance steps, snapping his fingers and humming. The sentry grins at him.) What are you grinning at, Mike?
The Sentry — (with a contemptuous smile makes a gesture of turning a wheel near his head) Muy loco!
Rogers — I got you the first time, Mike. Crazy is the right word. (He commences to sing) Mexico, my bright-eyed Mexico. [I, 223,234]
