EON Society Call for Papers for Louisville Feb. 2010

CALL FOR PAPERS

THE  EUGENE O'NEILL SOCIETY INVITES 20 MINUTE PAPERS ON

"'HOMEMADE': EUGENE O'NEILL AND DOMESTICITY"

To be given at the Louisville Conference on Literature and Culture since 1900
Feb. 18-20, 2010

Sponsored by the University of Louisville, KY

O'Neill wrote about domestic relationships throughout his career: the intimacies and estrangements between family members marble his plays from the early maritime dramas to the idyllic Ah Wilderness! to his most famous family tragedy, Long Day's Journey into Night. Additionally, he described the home environments of his characters in sometimes minute detail: such descriptions have enormous bearing on character and action in his plays.

This panel will concern any aspect of O'Neill and the domestic.  Please send prospecti/abstracts to Cynthia McCown, address below.  Graduate students are encouraged to apply.  First deadline September 30, 2009.
